Make & keep
Make a step-tab pop-up card from one photo-strip frame
Lift one copied portrait from a folded card with a simple paper step.
A small pop-up can make one image feel like the centre of a story. Work from a duplicate print and keep the mechanism simple: one folded tab, one focal frame and enough flat space for a short caption.
Plan the fold
Fold a card in half and mark the centre crease. Choose one portrait frame to lift forward; measure its printed height and keep the cut shorter than the card’s height so a border remains. Test the tab on plain paper before placing an image.
Cut a rectangular step tab
At the closed card, make two equal parallel cuts across the centre crease, then push the rectangular section inward to form a step. Open and close the card several times. If the step catches, shorten it or reduce the attached image’s width before gluing.
Attach and check
Glue a copy of the chosen frame to the upright tab, keeping the fold line clear. Add the remaining frames as a flat sequence on the side panels. Close the card gently; the raised photo should fold inward without rubbing, buckling or protruding past the cover.
