Lock OBS Virtual Camera to a booth scene

Keep a guest-facing camera feed steady while adjusting other OBS scenes.

OBS Virtual Camera can output the current program, studio preview, one chosen scene, or one source. Selecting the wrong mode can expose unfinished transitions to a connected browser or capture app.

Choose the output deliberately

Open Virtual Camera settings from the OBS Controls dock. Choose Scene and select the booth scene if you want a fixed composition regardless of the program output. Choose Source only when the receiving app should always see one specific camera or media source.

Avoid preview leaks

Do not use Preview as the virtual-camera output while Studio Mode is active unless viewers should see your scene changes and edits. OBS explicitly notes that Preview output can reveal those edits to the receiving app.

Test at the receiver

Start Virtual Camera, then open the target app’s camera selector and choose OBS Virtual Camera. Confirm the received feed shows the expected scene and framing. Stop the virtual camera when the booth workflow ends; an OBS preview in its own window does not prove the receiving app is using the same output.
