Reflective jewellery in booth portraits
Keep the detail while controlling distracting highlights.
Jewellery can matter to the memory of an occasion. A bright reflection should prompt a lighting test before the accessory is removed.
Inspect a natural pose
Take a sample with the jewellery where the person normally wears it. Look for small bright spots near the face and larger reflections across clothing. Keep the full image for comparison. A reflection seen at high magnification may be unobtrusive in the finished strip.
Try a modest lighting change
Compare a small change in light direction or pose while leaving the camera stable. Avoid unsafe improvisations around lighting equipment. Keep the sitter’s comfort and choice central; an accessory may be a meaningful part of the portrait rather than a technical inconvenience to eliminate.
Proof the chosen size
Open the exported strip at its intended viewing scale. Check whether the accessory remains recognisable without drawing attention away from the expression. Save the approved original before applying any local retouching, and do not describe a heavily altered keepsake as an unchanged record of the session.
