Use digiCamControl overlays as framing guides only

Keep a strip template visible in preview without baking it into portraits.

digiCamControl can display an overlay on live view to help align a booth frame. The manual says this display is not applied to the final image, so use it as a guide and keep the captured file clean for later layout work.

Load a reference overlay

Open Live View settings and select an overlay image from the overlay folder. Adjust its scale and position until its frame edges match the intended portrait crop. Use a transparent PNG guide if you need to see both the camera preview and layout boundaries at once.

Check crop separately

Use the live-view crop margin only to inspect a tighter preview if needed; the manual distinguishes preview framing from captured-image processing. If the final image itself needs a crop, configure and test the relevant crop transform separately instead of assuming preview zoom is recorded.

Compare preview and file

Take one test image with the overlay on. Open the captured file outside the live-view pane and confirm that the guide is absent and the intended composition remains. Save the overlay and crop settings in setup notes so a later operator can recreate the frame.
