Make & keep
Add a bleed area to a photo-strip print template
Extend the background past the trim while keeping faces and captions safely inside.
A print can lose a thin edge when it is trimmed. Bleed gives the background room to extend beyond the finished size; it is separate from the safe area that protects faces, frame borders and text from the cut.
Set finished dimensions
Write down the final trimmed width and height from the printer or lab. Add the bleed amount required by that provider on every side, then build the working canvas to the larger size. Do not assume every lab uses the same trim allowance.
Keep content inside
Extend only the background into the bleed. Place faces, captions and important borders inside a marked safe zone, and keep crop marks outside the finished image. Export a proof with both finished and working dimensions written in the file notes.
Check the proof
Print one copy and trim it with a ruler and craft knife on a cutting mat. Confirm the background reaches each edge and no essential detail is cut. If a line appears uneven, adjust the crop marks or safe zone before ordering a batch.
