Make & keep
Plan a shadow box around a strip copy
Give the picture room without trapping an original in craft materials.
A deep frame can combine a portrait with an event keepsake when the contents are planned carefully.
Arrange a mock-up
Use a reproduction and replaceable objects to test depth and spacing. Keep the portrait unobstructed and avoid items that press against the glazing. Consider whether a separate written description can tell the story more clearly than several bulky decorations crowded around the strip.
Preserve important originals elsewhere
Craft adhesives and mixed materials do not automatically provide conservation-safe storage. For valuable photographs or objects, consult an appropriate specialist about mounting and enclosure. Keep the display copy replaceable and document which parts are replicas so someone later does not mistake the assembled scene for an untouched historical object.
