Inside the booth
Photo booth or photobooth: which spelling?
Two spellings, several meanings, and a useful way to make a search more precise.
Both “photo booth” and “photobooth” appear in everyday searches for portrait machines and apps. On this site they refer to the same broad subject. The more useful distinction is the kind of booth you want, because the same words can lead to a wedding supplier, a public machine or Apple’s camera app.
Use a modifier that describes the job
For somewhere to visit, try “analogue photobooth London” or “Korean photo booth near me”. For a party, add “rental”, “hire”, “with prints” or the event date. For a camera tool, add your device: “photo booth app iPhone” or “Photo Booth Mac”. A bare search leaves all those meanings competing.
Photo strip, four-cut and contact sheet
A photo strip is the finished arrangement of pictures, often in a narrow column. Four-cut names a four-picture format associated with contemporary Korean self-photo culture. A contact sheet has a more specific photographic history; calling any decorative collage a contact sheet does not explain how it was made. Use the output name when looking for sizes or printing instructions.
When the capital letters matter
Photo Booth with capitals may refer to Apple’s application. Photomaton and Photoautomat may be an operator’s name or a regional way of talking about an automatic portrait booth. Check the result’s context before assuming it is the same product. This matters particularly for camera troubleshooting: instructions for a Mac do not repair an event kiosk.
One answer can serve several phrasings
A guide to strip dimensions can answer “photo strip size”, “photobooth dimensions” and “2×6 photo booth template” when it clearly identifies the format. Making separate near-identical pages for each spelling adds little for the reader. Start with a precise topic, then use its natural vocabulary. A useful search is a request for an answer, rather than a test of which spelling is correct.
