Set what a click does in Nikon NX Tether live view

Prevent a framing click from unexpectedly taking a picture.

The live-view preview can respond to a mouse click in several ways. Set that behavior before guests arrive so a framing adjustment does not become an accidental exposure or a misleading focus change.

Choose the click action

Connect a supported camera and open NX Tether’s Options from the Tools menu. In the live-view options, choose Move focus point if you only want clicks to reposition the point, Touch AF to move and focus, or Off to make the preview inert. Nikon documents Touch shutter/touch AF as an additional capture-capable choice.

Set the grid separately

Use the framing-grid controls in the same live-view options to display guides over the tether preview. The guide is a framing aid on the computer view; it does not change the camera file. Keep the grid simple enough that the eyes and crop boundary remain visible.

Test the exact behavior

Click a safe empty part of the preview and confirm the selected response. Then make one controlled test exposure and verify it appears in the destination folder. In video mode, Nikon notes the click options only change the focus-point position, so do not assume photo-mode behavior carries over.
