Make & keep
Scale a photo-strip export to an exact pixel width in GIMP
Resample an access copy for a web form while keeping the print master untouched.
Some upload forms reject a large image even when its composition is finished. Use Scale Image on a duplicate or export copy to change pixel dimensions. The operation changes image data, so keep your larger layered or original file for later print work.
Choose the working copy
Duplicate the image and record its current pixel width and height. In the copy, choose Image → Scale Image. Enter the required pixel width, keep the chain linked, and let the height follow so the strip is not squeezed.

Select interpolation
Choose the interpolation option in the dialog, then apply the scale. The best setting depends on the image and the amount of resizing, so inspect fine text and edges rather than assuming the preview is sufficient.

Confirm and export
Check the resulting pixel dimensions in Image Properties and view the smallest lettering at normal display size. Export the reduced copy with a new filename. Do not overwrite the full-resolution master with this upload version.
