How to make a photo booth wedding guest book

A place for one strip, one message and a record you can read years later.

A guest book works when it is easy to complete during a busy evening. Give guests a finished photograph, somewhere to place it and a clear invitation to write. Design the table for that sequence rather than filling it with decorations before checking where the pictures and pen will go.

Decide who keeps each copy

If the booth makes two strips, one can go in the book and one can go home with the guest. Confirm whether the print arrangement really provides two copies and how it affects the allowance. With digital-only capture, you need a later printing plan; a guest cannot attach a photograph that does not yet exist.

Prepare a usable page

Choose a book that can hold the full strip without folding it. Reserve space for names and a message. Use materials suited to photographs, and test the attachment method before the day. Photograph-safe corners or suitable pockets make it easier to remove a print later.

Write a small example on a separate instruction card. Guests should understand the task without having to copy somebody else’s page design.

Make the invitation personal

An original instruction might read: “Keep one strip. Leave one here. Tell us something we should remember.” Another could ask for a wish, a memory or the name of the next adventure. Keep prompts short enough that guests do not spend the whole session composing an essay.

Place the writing space away from the next posing group, and provide more than one pen. A host can encourage participation without insisting that every visitor leaves a message.

Preserve the finished book

After the event, check for loose strips and collect any unattached messages. Record uncertain names while people can still help identify them. Photograph or scan complete pages as well as important individual strips, so the digital copy preserves the arrangement.

Keep the book away from strong light and damp. The handwriting and imperfect arrangement are part of its value; a private access copy lets you share selected pages without putting the entire original on a public gallery.

Take the next picture.
