Photo booth signs: wording guests can understand
Original text for the entrance, countdown, print table and guest book.
A useful sign answers the question a guest has at that moment. Put arrival instructions beside the camera, print instructions beside the printer and the guest-book invitation beside the book. One readable sentence in the right place is often enough.
At the camera
For a four-picture session, try: “Four frames. Choose your poses before you start.” If guests must look above the screen, add: “Look at the lens for the photograph.” For a simple phone setup: “Stand on the mark. Tap to begin. Stay for all four pictures.” These are original wording suggestions; adapt them to the actual controls.
Avoid claiming “instant prints” when processing or collection takes time. A sign should describe the workflow guests will encounter.
At the print or download station
State what happens next: “Collect your strip here after the session.” For a guest-book pair: “Keep one copy. Leave one in our book.” For digital delivery: “Save your photograph before closing this page.” Only mention a QR code, email or text message if your system actually provides that option.
Make it clear which print belongs to which group when several sessions finish together. A number or an attendant can work better than a decorative sign alone.
At a wedding or party
A light invitation can be specific: “Make a portrait with someone you met tonight,” or “Four small pictures from one good evening.” For a wedding book: “Leave us a picture and a wish.” For a birthday: “Make one strip for now and one for future you.” Keep event names and dates separate from the instruction when a long heading would crowd the page.
Make the words readable
Print the sign at its real display size and read it from the guest’s approach position. Keep the background quiet and the type large. Do not rely on an arrow or an unexplained icon to communicate the next step. Check the instruction with a person who has not used the setup, then shorten any phrase they need to reread.
