Write photobooth prompt cards people can read quickly
Use one short action and an example sequence.
A prompt card is useful only if someone can read it before the camera starts. It should help a guest act, not become another decorative object they have to decode.
Use our original wording
Three sample cards are: look at each other, then back at the camera; pass a smile along the row; and begin still, wave once, finish still. Keep the text outside the photographed background unless you want it in the picture. A guest can also choose a quiet portrait.
Test the card at its real distance
Ask someone unfamiliar with the setup to read the instruction from where they will stand. Use comfortable lettering and simplify anything they need explained twice. Provide an example privately if it helps, rather than adding several tiny lines that compete with the countdown.
Keep the capture instructions separate
Explain how to start the actual app in a different short step. Flashroom provides a countdown and four-photo sequence, but these cards are optional original editorial prompts. Do not imply that a guest must follow a card before being allowed to keep a portrait.
