Make & keep
A before-and-after photo strip for one evening
Use two sessions to preserve the change without inventing a narrative.
The beginning and end of an evening can make an interesting pair. Keep the two sessions distinct so the comparison records what actually happened rather than pretending the frames were one continuous countdown.
Make a repeatable first session
Our plan uses a quiet forward portrait and one small gesture before the event. Record the time or simply label it before. Save the camera arrangement if you hope to repeat it later. Do not let the portrait delay something more important to the people involved.
Return when people choose to
Make the later session only if the group still wants it. Use the same framing where practical and label changes in light, place or participants. A different expression does not prove a particular feeling, and an altered filter can manufacture an apparent change in the scene.
Present two real sessions
Keep each original strip and create a separate comparison copy if desired. Flashroom can supply each four-photo session; combining them is an editorial choice afterwards. Caption the pair clearly with the event and dates, and avoid describing it as an uninterrupted moment.
