Check a photo strip after sending it to another device
A received copy can differ from the file you meant to preserve.
A message that arrives successfully confirms delivery, not necessarily preservation of the original file. Check the copy on the receiving device before treating it as a master or sending it to print.
A documented source of change
Apple explains that sharing HEIF or HEVC through some methods can produce a more compatible format when a receiver does not support the original. That is a useful example of why transfer behaviour must be checked rather than inferred from a filename.
Evidence: Product documentation
Compare three properties
Our check records pixel dimensions, file format and visible contents on both devices. Confirm that all frames and the caption survived. View the received file separately from the conversation thumbnail. If you intend to keep an original, use an appropriate original-file export route and retain the master as well.
Run the intended next step
Try opening the received copy in the actual editor or print workflow. A successful view in one photo app does not establish compatibility everywhere. Label a reduced sharing version accordingly, and avoid replacing your master with it simply because it is easier to find in the message history.
