Make & keep
Ask an archive about a photobooth portrait
Send a precise research question instead of an unlabelled image.
A useful request gives an archivist enough context to identify the item and the question you are trying to answer.
Prepare the reference
Include the catalogue link or identifier, exact title and institution name. Explain whether you need a date clarification, a higher-resolution access copy or information about rights. Keep those questions separate. If supplying your own photograph, describe where it came from and do not attach unrelated private material.
Evidence: Collection documentation
Save the answer with the item
Record the date and scope of the response. A staff explanation of a catalogue field is different from permission to publish an image. Follow the stated access process and credit requirements. Add new evidence to your record without discarding the source description that prompted the question.
