Make & keep
Create a two-colour acetate overlay for a strip-copy collage
Layer transparent colour shapes over a copy to test a graphic interpretation.
Transparent overlays are useful for trying a colour treatment before committing to a print. Keep the overlay removable and record that the colours are an artistic layer, not evidence of the original booth lighting.
Separate the layers
Print a copy in neutral colour and place clear acetate over it. Trace only selected areas—one background block, a jacket or a border—onto separate sheets. Mark the back of each overlay so the layers return to the same position.
Add colour selectively
Use transparent film-safe markers or coloured acetate pieces tested on scrap. Leave faces and key details uncovered unless the experiment is specifically about colour on skin. Keep labels outside the frame and note the chosen colours and material.
Compare and label
Stack one overlay at a time, then view the image in neutral daylight and ordinary room light. If the photograph becomes unreadable, reduce the coloured area or saturation. Store the pieces apart from the print and label the collage as a modern interpretation.
