Melbourne’s analogue photobooths: follow the operator’s map
Find the current machines while keeping their history separate from live directions.
The station is part of the story, but it is not the whole map. Metro Auto Photo operates restored analogue booths around Melbourne and maintains a current locations route. Use that live source to plan a visit rather than relying on an old photograph.
The operator and its archive
Metro Auto Photo describes its work as reviving and operating vintage chemical booths across Naarm/Melbourne. It also publishes the story of Alan Adler’s test-strip archive. The operator’s history explains its perspective; its location information serves a different, practical purpose.
Evidence: Operator information
Prepare for the actual session
Open the operator’s current locations information before leaving and check the venue as well as the machine. A booth inside a business may depend on that business’s access. Read the displayed payment and timing instructions on arrival. We do not freeze a price or guarantee availability from an earlier visit.

Keep the visit’s context
Record the date and the place with your finished strip. If you photograph the machine, do so without blocking other people or exposing their portraits. For an album page, place the booth picture beside your own strip and a small route note. That preserves a real visit rather than a generic city souvenir.
