Make & keep
Place repeatable photo-strip margins with GIMP guides
Use guides and snapping to position several images against the same visual boundaries.
Guides help you place frame edges and captions consistently when making a multi-image composition repeatedly. Unlike a printed rule, a guide is an editing aid. Save the working document with its layout, then inspect the exported result because guides do not appear in the image.
Add reference lines
Create horizontal or vertical guides at the intended panel boundaries using the guides commands. Use rulers or the guide-position controls to place them accurately, then make sure the required guides are visible.

Enable snapping
Turn on View → Snap to Guides before moving a layer or selection. Drag each panel edge toward its guide and watch for it to snap into place. If movement feels constrained, check which guide or grid snapping options are enabled.

Review without aids
Temporarily hide guides and inspect the composition at print size. Confirm the actual gaps and borders match; the guides themselves are not exported. Re-enable them for future edits and save the XCF layout.
