Inside the booth
Check focus breathing when a booth camera’s framing shifts
Some lenses change field of view as focus distance changes.
A focus adjustment can slightly change framing on some lenses. In a fixed photobooth, that can move heads closer to the crop edge even though the camera mount has not moved.
Compare focus positions
Photograph the same static target at the intended subject plane and at a nearby distance. Keep the camera position fixed and compare how the frame boundaries shift. This is distinct from camera movement or a software crop change.

Lock the intended focus distance
Set focus at the normal guest position and verify the full crop with headroom and side margins. If the camera repeatedly refocuses, test a focus lock or fixed-focus configuration where available. Do not assume a lens behaves identically at every distance.
Retest after equipment changes
A new lens, camera module or phone model may change focus behaviour. Recheck the framing target and print crop after replacement. If the optical change is small, moving the subject mark or updating the template may be enough, but validate with a group sample.
