Film & darkroom

Give your first darkroom session a clear stopping point

Aim for one documented result rather than an unlimited batch.

A small complete session can teach more than many rushed prints with no record.

Choose a modest outcome

Select one negative and one paper workflow. Prepare the documented chemistry and safe workspace, then aim for a test and a checked finished print. Leave time for cleanup and storage. Do not keep processing merely because material remains in the tray when you no longer have a clear record or adequate attention.

Close the session properly

Record the approved setup, problems and next experiment. Handle used chemistry through the appropriate local route and clean equipment following its guidance. Preserve the reference print and negative safely. A clear end makes the next session repeatable instead of leaving unknown solutions and unlabelled work behind.
