Keep a fully finished print as your reference
Compare like viewing conditions.
A wet working print and a finished display print are different stages of evaluation.
Complete the material workflow
Follow the paper’s fixing, washing, handling and drying instructions before storing the reference. Label the print with its session identifier. Do not shorten processing merely because the image looks ready to judge. Keep the negative and exposure notes linked to the approved result.
Evidence: Technical data sheet
Compare under consistent light
View later proofs beside the reference in the same useful lighting. Record what differs rather than immediately changing every setting. Preserve a digital documentation image if helpful, while remembering that a screen reproduction does not replace the physical print as evidence of the paper result.
