Inside the booth

Use neutral and skin-colour patches to test booth consistency

A portrait alone may not reveal which stage shifted colour.

A four-frame strip can make small colour shifts look like deliberate variation. A simple reference target helps tell lighting, capture and output changes apart before guests arrive.

Build a practical target

Include a neutral grey patch, white, black and a few saturated colours beside a face-like tone reference. Place the target at the subject position and illuminate it as the real portrait will be. Avoid glossy samples that introduce strong reflections.

Compare each stage

Save the camera capture, strip export and print sample. Check whether the neutral patch changes after capture, layout or printing. Use a known colour-managed workflow if available; a phone screen photograph of the print adds another camera and light source to the comparison.

Record the conditions

Note camera mode, light source, export profile, printer and media. A target does not make an uncalibrated system accurate by itself, but it gives you a repeatable comparison. Reprint the same file after a change to identify whether the output improved.
