Verify where tethered booth captures are actually saved
Prevent a successful live preview from hiding an archive or file-destination gap.
A tethered camera can show a preview on the booth computer even when the operator has not confirmed where the original capture is stored. Preview, transfer and durable archive are separate steps. Before a live event, test the complete capture path and identify whether files are saved to the camera card, the computer, or both under the installed software’s settings.
Make a traceable test capture
Shoot one clearly identifiable test frame through the same remote-control flow used by the booth. Confirm it appears in the expected preview, then inspect the configured save location and camera card separately. Do not treat a thumbnail as proof that the full-resolution file has completed transfer or can be reopened after the application closes.

Understand the software path
Canon’s EOS Utility documentation describes a mode where remote captures are saved directly to the computer and transferred into a quick-preview window. Other tethering tools and camera models may offer different storage choices. Record the software version and save-location settings, and confirm what happens if the connection drops during a capture.

Test recovery before production
Disconnect only during a controlled test, then reconnect and check whether a file remains on the camera card or in the computer’s destination folder. Verify filenames, dimensions and timestamps in the saved file, not just the preview pane. Select the storage arrangement that matches the booth’s recovery needs and test it through restart, reconnect and final export.
