Renaming PNG to JPG does not convert a strip
Use an export operation, not a new suffix.
Changing the letters at the end of a filename can make a file look compatible without changing the picture stored inside it.
Keep the original name intact
Make a duplicate before troubleshooting. Look at the full filename, including its extension, so you do not accidentally create names such as portrait.jpg.png. A destination that checks the file’s contents may reject a renamed image even when the new filename seems correct.
Export into the required format
Open the working image in a compatible editor and use its export or save-copy operation to choose the format. PNG, JPEG and SVG describe different ways of representing an image. A blank vector layout should be composed or rendered before it is treated as a finished raster photograph.
Evidence: Technical documentation
Verify the converted copy
Open the new file in another viewer. Check dimensions, background, caption and every face. Keep both files if you may need an editable layout later. Conversion is complete only when the recipient can use the actual result; the filename by itself is not that evidence.
