Test a polarising filter for a reflective booth prop

Use a filter test to reduce selected reflections while preserving the scene.

A polarising filter can reduce some reflections from non-metallic surfaces, but the effect depends on the angle of the light and camera. Test it on the exact prop rather than assuming it will remove every glare spot.

Set a fixed scene

Place the glass, glossy card or reflective surface where it will appear. Keep the camera and light fixed, then take a reference frame without the filter. Note where the reflection sits.

Rotate and compare

Attach the filter and rotate it slowly while watching the reflection. Stop where glare is reduced without making the rest of the frame too dark. Take another image and compare the same region at equal display brightness.

Check side effects

Inspect colour, exposure and reflections elsewhere in the frame. The filter may darken the image or create uneven effects across a wide view. If it worsens the portrait, move the light or object instead; metal reflections and direct light sources may remain. The result is an angle-specific test, not a universal fix.
