Leave headroom when making a four-photo strip
Use a preview check that includes every person and every frame.
An expressive pose is harder to enjoy if the layout removes its hair, hand or prop. Plan a little space around the subject before the countdown rather than expecting a later template to restore what was never captured.
Check the destination shape
A covering crop can remove edges when the photo and its window have different aspect ratios. MDN documents that fit-and-cover distinction. For our exercise, begin with the layout’s actual preview rather than guessing from the full camera view.
Evidence: Technical documentation
Mark a rehearsal frame
Take one test picture with everyone in their planned position. Place it into the intended window and inspect the highest head, widest shoulders and any raised hands. Leave a comfortable margin where the final crop falls. A margin that works for a seated person may fail when they stand or lean forward in the next pose.
Repeat the visible boundary
Keep the camera and sitting position stable for the sequence. If you make a larger gesture, check it separately before the real take. Afterwards, review all four saved frames in the layout, not just the first. Keep the uncropped photographs so a different arrangement remains possible later.
