Patterned clothing in a small photo strip
Judge the pattern at the final picture size.
A pattern can look lively in person and compete with a face inside a narrow frame. Let a test guide the background and crop.
Keep the preferred outfit
Photograph the person wearing what they intended. Compare the clothing with the backdrop and look at a reduced-size version of the strip. Avoid declaring a pattern unsuitable from the outfit alone. The visual result depends on the camera, composition, lighting and size of the final picture.
Simplify another element
Try a plainer backdrop or a slightly tighter portrait while keeping comfortable headroom. If a distracting fine pattern appears, compare the original capture with the exported copy to see where the change began. Do not assume every unwanted texture was created by the clothing itself.
Choose the whole composition
Review all four frames with the person. A lively outfit may be exactly what makes the sequence memorable. Keep the original photographs before making a simplified creative version, and avoid shrinking faces merely to show an entire decorative pattern in every window.
