Check backdrop lettering before the session
Words behind the group can become a second unintended subject.
A backdrop’s message may look clear in the room but disappear behind heads or become reversed in the saved picture. Treat it as part of the photographic composition rather than only as venue decoration.
Test with actual people
Our rehearsal places the tallest and shortest guests in the intended frame. Check whether names and dates remain legible and whether letters seem to emerge from a person’s head. Move the wording or simplify the background before the real countdown.
Inspect the saved orientation
Apple documents a Mirror Front Camera option in its own Camera app. A booth app’s preview and saved output can differ, so photograph a harmless sample word and inspect the actual exported strip. Do not infer readable lettering from the live preview alone.

Keep essential details elsewhere too
Put the event date in a companion caption or catalogue if it matters for future identification. Flashroom’s four-frame sequence can preserve expressions, but a crowded backdrop should not be the only record of the occasion. Save a clean portrait when the lettering competes with the faces.
