Make & keep
Recover a photo strip from Recently Deleted on iPhone
Restore a mistakenly deleted photo before the retention period ends, or check the Recovered collection if it is missing.
Photos deletion is different from hiding or reverting an edit. A deleted image goes to Recently Deleted for a limited period before permanent removal. If a strip disappears after cleanup, check this collection promptly and confirm the correct frames before restoring them to the library.
Open Recently Deleted
In Photos, open Collections and find Recently Deleted under Utilities. Tap View Album and unlock the collection. Tap Select, choose the images you want back, then tap More and Recover. If you see several nearly identical scans, open each one first and use its date or other visible detail to avoid restoring the wrong copy.

Recover only the needed frames
Apple says items remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days before permanent removal. After recovery, open Library and check your intended album; add the frame there if needed. Recovery does not create a separate backup, so keep another copy of important originals.

Check Recovered and your backup
If the missing image is not in Recently Deleted, look for the Recovered collection in Photos. Do not keep emptying Recently Deleted while investigating. For important originals, keep a separate backup of exported files or the Photos library; this recovery area is a short-term safety net, not a long-term backup.
