Make & keep

Set a booth print’s physical size in GIMP without resampling

Use Print Size when the pixel image is finished but its intended paper dimensions need setting.

A printer asks for a particular physical print size, but the picture already has the pixel dimensions you want to keep. GIMP’s Print Size dialog changes the dimensions associated with output and does not add or remove image pixels. Keep this distinct from Scale Image.

Open Print Size

Choose Image → Print Size. Note the current pixel dimensions before editing, then enter the requested width or height in the physical units shown in the dialog. Keep the width and height linked when the strip must retain its shape.

Read the paired values

When you change a physical dimension, GIMP updates the output-resolution fields. Those values describe how the existing pixels map to the print dimensions; they are not a promise about what a particular printer will produce.

Verify the file

Accept the dialog and reopen it to check the chosen dimensions. Confirm pixel width and height remain unchanged in Image Properties. If a print lab requires different pixel dimensions, use a separate scaled export and keep the unchanged master.
