Define when your development timer starts
Use the timing convention in the selected instructions.
A log saying ten minutes is incomplete if nobody knows when the timing began.
Follow one documented convention
Read the chosen process instructions for filling, timing and draining. Write the start and finish convention in your run sheet. Do not mix a time table from one method with a pouring convention from another without checking the compatibility. Short processes can make those differences particularly visible.

Practise with an empty setup
Use an appropriate non-film rehearsal to understand the sequence without risking a roll. Prepare the timer and next stage before starting. Record interruptions honestly rather than quietly rewriting the nominal time after the session. A repeatable record makes later comparisons meaningful.
