Inside the booth
Dark clothing against a dark booth backdrop
Find separation without demanding a different outfit.
A favourite dark outfit can merge with the background. Test the portrait as a whole before asking the sitter to change how they want to appear.
Inspect the outline
Take a sample with the intended clothes and backdrop. Check the shoulders, hair and space beside the face. If the portrait feels like a floating head, compare a lighter background or a different subject position. Keep the sitter comfortable rather than solving the image through an awkward posture.
Adjust the setting
Try a modest change to the background or lighting direction and make another matched sample. Avoid judging only a bright phone preview. Test a monochrome conversion separately, because colours that differ in the original may become similar grey tones in the final booth mood.
Proof the finished strip
Open the actual exported sequence at its intended size. Check every frame, especially where a person turned or leaned into a darker area. Save the successful setup for the helper, but keep flexibility for another guest’s hair, clothing and preferred pose.
